About Me
Najee Janey
The King of Hip Hop Soul
Born and raised in Boston, MA, Najee Janey is the definition of raw talent and refined soul. The singer, songwriter, rapper, and poet channels his roots – from his father’s records of Zouk, Jazz, Funk, and Latin grooves — into a sound that’s sensual, fearless, and genre-bending.
Inspired by the honesty and rhythm of Big Pun’s “Still Not a Player,” Najee fell in love with Hip-Hop – but his artistry refuses to stay in one lane. His 2024 breakout project “BREAK FREE” announced him as a creative force, and his latest electrifying release “ROYALTY” cements it – a sultry, soul-shaking statement of self-expression and power.
With songwriting credits on Atlantic Records R&B artist Sebastian Mikael’s last two albums – including the hit single “Time” — Najee’s pen and presence are undeniable.
Fresh off four consecutive Boston Music Award nominations (including Unsigned Artist of the Year, R&B Artist of the Year, and Songwriter of the Year) and his second consecutive New England Music Award nod for Best Hip Hop Artist, Najee Janey isn’t just rising – he’s blazing a new path for Hip Hop Soul.
My Music
Break Free comes on the heels of Najee’s past powerfully rhythmic projects including Blue Manifesto and Purple Earth Theory.
From Najee’s spitfire raps, like “TIRED OF BEING TIRED” and the anthem inspiring “ALRIGHT” to his smooth falsetto serenades on “CHERRY BLOSSOM PIE” and “THIS TIME I’M LEAVING”, Najee delivers a seamless compilation of thought-provoking, poetic melodies reminiscent of Kendrick Lamar and Mos Def.
Najee was a local headliner for Boston Calling Music Festival in 2023. He has been cited as a “prolific performing artist” in the music industry and has received mentions in Rolling Stone, Variety, Boston Globe, Paste Magazine, Vanyaland and many more. He was also pegged by Converse to design his own customized Converse By You Chuck 70 sneaker.
When asked what’s next, Najee says, “Stay tuned, I’m just getting started.”
